26 Weeks of Motion

6+ months of learning and applying new skills in motion graphics, just for the heck of it.

Learning as I go

I originally built this project page as a journal documenting each week in real-time with a look into which skills or theories I was learning and applying. Eventually, load times and scroll length became unmanageable, so we’re left with a single compilation that breezes by all of the specifics and process.

In the spirit of transparency, the original vision for this project was 52 Weeks of Motion. How much could I improve as a motion designer if I committed to a weekly practice with an athlete-like mindset? While it started great, and I made it through half the year, the wheels fell off. A couple weeks in Europe, the fun of Summer, one missed week turning into two. Before I knew it, the streak was gone and the backlog was mountainous.

Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. I still created 26 pieces of personal work and learned a ton along the way. It’s work that I’m proud to share.
